Nov 01, 2009 · I have a Linksys WRT54G wireless router running DD-WRT open source firmware. A lot of the work I do requires providing access to clients or coworkers to various devices on my local network. I also view the DD-WRT web interface regularly on the Linksys WRT54G to see what devices it can see on the network via ARP or IP. Stop the web interface service: stopservice httpd; Start the web interface service: startservice httpd; That’s it! See the DD-WRT website for more information and to check if DD-WRT is available for your router too. Or checkout this excellent guide on how to use a VPN on DD-WRT. If I configure my ethernet connection with a static IP, and then configure dd-wrt to use DHCP for the WAN, then I can no longer access the web interface. At that point, switching the ethernet interface back to DHCP gives me a different IP Address / Default Gateway from before (this time, 192.168.1.1), but then I get neither the web interface I've just installed DD-WRT on an old router I had laying around. Router was working fine and web admin was accessible through 192.168.1.1. I just installed DD-WRT and the firmware was flashed successfully. I can now sucessfully connect to SSID ddwrt, but I am unable to access the router admin interface to change the default settings.

From the dd-wrt wiki: If for some reason you completely lost web access to the router, the web server (HTTP daemon) may be shut down. To regain access try starting the web server. SSH or telnet into the router and enter the following commands: httpd -h /www. This forum thread gives all to gory details about enabling/disabling the web interface.

The DD-WRT user interface is an awesome piece of work, as it front-ends what amounts to a really quite sophisticated combination of switching and routing. This document is a concise and hopefully mostly accurate description of what the UI is actually configuring for you from the perspective of internal network devices and the data flows between

This setting controls if the wireless interface is "bridged" with the LAN ports. Bridged meaning a client on the wireless interface and a client on the Ethernet LAN interface are on the same network on the same subnet. Unbridged allows you to "separate" the WLAN (wireless LAN) by giving it its own subnet and even its own DHCP server.
